Coffee capsules (sometimes known as coffee pods) have become ubiquitous in today’s coffee culture. In Australia alone, three million people consume coffee pods daily. Their ability to deliver instant, high-quality espresso at the push of a button has transformed how society makes coffee at home. However, as their popularity grows, so do concerns about the increasing volume of packaging waste they produce.
While much of the discussion focuses on the capsules themselves, it’s equally important to consider the sustainability of your coffee capsule box. Many roasters have pivoted from plastic-based packaging to cardboard, a material that is widely recognised for its recyclability. But what does this shift mean for the future of coffee capsule boxes?
